Any info on Downs Motors Inc. Morristown NJ ?

I have paperwork from my car that show it was puchased new at Downs Motors Inc. Morristown NJ in Feb 1964 but I can find nothing on them except a can opener with some old advertising.

Morristown has a large town square in the center of town - Downs was a small Chevy dealer just off the square. Morristown has a train Station that goes into NY City - hence it is in the middle of a large number of high income areas. I have not been in the area in many a year and if it closed I have no idea when. Washington and his men fought in that area - that gives you some idea how old Morristown is. I think they have a rather large library as well as a Morristown newspaper. I would try to contact both of them to see what they may have regarding Downs Chevy. Good Luck.

Thats interesting I will have to check google earth. The dealership is closed with virtually no information now available. The paper work on my '64 fuelie was signed by the owner.....Harry P Downs Jr.

I now think I remember that on the other side of town there was a Downs Ford - could have been owned by the same family. I would try to get some info on them also?

i called Downs Ford in a nearby town and they recalled that it had went out of business or was sold but had no details. No joy yet.
