I received my shipping report today for my 63 and learned almost nothing, no dealer name or city? just dealer code 8 and zone 1 anyway of finding where it was shipped to? My son had his done and he got all the info. so I had my car done. Thanks

I'm an old GM retiree, and as I remember Chevrolet Zone 01 was the Detroit Zone. Believe it or not, back in the day, code numbers were assigned according to the alphabet, Dealer code 006 was Alcona Motors Inc. and Dealer code 010 was Andrews Chevrolet Sales. General Motors' selling agreements were redone every five years. As long as all the pertinant information remained the same the dealership kept the same code. However, if anything changed, like the person named in paragraph 3 (like when a dealer operator's son takes over or a dealership is relocated but the name remained the same) the number was changed usually by adding one digit. I know it sounds crazy...but that's the way it was. There's a good chance that 008 represents the second rewrite of Alcona Motors Inc. I know it sounds like grasping at straws. Don, the info NCRS received from GM regarding the dealer names was missing the first page...zone 1 dealer 1 to 71. If anyone (Dan?) has this info it would be a great addition to the book.Comment

Google: Hazen Amey 3427 Main St, Deckerville, Mi 48427
Shows active NAPA store, but also car sales lot and Hazen Amey by name.
Was listed for Zone 1 Dealer 8 many years ago. I the assume the NAPA store was probably the original Chevrolet dealership.
