C1 - measurement of the arch of rear springs

Does anyone know/remember the measurement of the distance between the center of the two pivot "eyes" on C1 4 leaf rear springs.....? I understand there is also a measurement from the top of the spring down to a level plane when the spring is standing on its ends.....I need to determine whether my originals need re-arching..... Knowing how far they vary from original would be useful......
    Thanks

Gary - search "C1 Rear Spring Arch" and you will find a posting with what you are looking for.

      Mark.....

Did you end up re-arching those springs in your picture.....? I have a set that look very similar to yours - no cracks, bends and the center measurement for both falls about 5" 1/2" to 5" 3/4"...... I'm thinking about cleaning them up and re-using them..... what did you do....

Hello Gary - I haven't done anything yet. I am hoping I can just clean them up, paint them then install new liners and signode straps.

Hopefully someone will chime in and tell me I can avoid re arching them if they are to spec.

I just had mine rearched by Eaton. Mine were pretty bad at the front end. I have photos of before and after. The after photo has new liners but I have not installed the banding yet.

There is an article on the Restorer CD from the Summer 79 edition that show the measures of 51" on center eye-to-eye. It also shows 3 5/8" vertical from an imaginary center line eye-to-eye and the center of the arch with the eyes sitting down on a flat surfat.

Mine actually measure 49 1/4" on center.
