    lOOKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS !

I have decided to sell my Vette. Where would you recommend to list it for sale where it will get good exposure. It is a 66 big block coupe .

'and unlike alot of other venues you can trust NCRS members when they come to your home to look at the car. Driveline readers look for only one model of car- Corvette- and the price is right.

I agree on Driveline--not sure what they charge, but websites I frequented daily when searching for my 67 were usedcorvettesforsale.com, corvettetrader.com, and the for sale forum over at forums.corvetteforum.com.

Ebay also gets you exposure, although you may not sell to the eventual high bidder, (those who bid don't seem to come up with the money). You may be contacted by someone after the auction closes. That's actually how I wound up with my 67--saw it on Ebay but didn't have enough time to check it out, sent the seller an email saying "contact me, if you're sale falls through", it did, and he did. And the rest was history.

NCRS Driveline is free for members, easy to submit add on line. Just reviewed the 66's for sale last week in the latest issue. Wish I had more garage space.

                  David,

Driveline is a good place to advertise but it will only give you limited exposure. It's only available to members and then only to those that read it. Usedcorvettesforsale.com and corvettetrader.com give you much more exposure, as does Flea bay. These sites can also help you price your car. Considering what your car is, you may want to think about Mecum. Of course there will be some expense to you with Flea bay and Mecum. The fastest, cheapest place to advertise is Craig's list, but be ready for alot of traffic, including some "strokers" (people who waste your time and have no intention to buy).

What you may want to do is systematically go through each one of these.

Be careful with the money arrangements and good luck.

                  Paul

To clarify, I know driveline is free--I was referring to fees that Corvettetrader, usedcorvettesforsale and ebay charge.

                    Poor punctuation on my part.

With Driveline you're limiting your audience, to NCRS members or people NCRS members are helping find Corvettes, so you may want to consider listing in a few more venues. From what I've seen, a goodly number of the ads in Driveline appear in other places too.

My other advice as a recent buyer is this. Think carefully on how you will close your sale. I had a few tense minutes with my seller--he wanted to hold the title for 5 days after I wired the funds which I was able to talk him out of (fortunately because bringing cash from Dallas to Boston was out of the question). Not only is getting a large sum of cash together difficult (you have to put a cash order in with your bank, and even then, they don't love the idea), but from a personal security standpoint, I don't want to lug a suitcase of cash around.

Just an observation--to sell a car that costs more than $10,000 will involve one or both parties taking a leap of faith as dealing in cash becomes unlikely as the price goes up. If any leap of faith is too great for you, it will make it tough to sell especially in the current buyer's market.
