Edward, Mine were long gone when I got the car. Paragon has what seems to be a decent repro. Haven't yet purchased them but they are described as the proper flattened arch of the u-bolt with stampings. No real photo in the catalog. Mike

Mike, I just received my clamps from paragon today and am questioning there correctness, they recently had a new vender making them, I waited 3 months. I am thinking that these clamps or questionable. I would like to see a pic. of the correct one, to compare.

Attached are photos of a Paragon-sourced clamp I got some time ago (although I think I might have purchased it from Dr. Rebuild). I think this is very close to being correct.

Joe, that is what I have, the only thing is its plated cadiumn. I think I'll dip it in acid to removed the plating. according to JM its raw steel.

Yes, the originals were natural steel and you can easily remove the zinc plating from these. Keep in mind, though, that once you do, the "natural" finish is not going to last very long. It's going to VERY quickly appear rusty. I think that's why Paragon has these plated. It would be cheaper for them to leave them natural (as it was for GM).

What you have Ed is, as Joe says, close; but if you look closely at the pictures Paul posted, and I think the pictures of the same car I sent to you, you will see the 1972 clamps are slightly different. The U-channel is not straight across on the original 1972 clamps. It is straight across on the 1970 and some 1971s.

BTW: The zinc can be removed with lemon juice -- acetic acid.
