can anyone tell me the best place to start looking for wheels for my 63. The wheels on my car turn out to be dated 3-66 and one is 15xk JA-4 that one is riveted. My wheels are excellent but wrong. Will any 63 GM wheel be correct or is it corvette only. Every time I think I'm getting close to done I get farther behind. Any help would be appreciated.

The original 1963 Corvette steel wheel was unique to 1963 Corvettes and 1963 police cars.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 63 wheels
John-----
Early 1963's used wheel GM #3825686. Later 1963's used wheel GM #3834127 which was the same as used for 1964 Corvettes. I don't know the difference between the 2 wheels and I don't know just when the changeover occurred during the 1963 model year.
The GM #3825686 was discontinued from SERVICE in January, 1963 and replaced by the 3834127. This implies that the PRODUCTION change-over date was probably prior to January, 1963.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 63 wheels
Guys, the judging guide states the 64 wheel has a small hole in the spider area that was not present in the 63 wheel. I've never seen this hole. Anybody have a picture ?Last edited by Tom H.; April 3, 2009, 06:53 PM.Tom Hendricks

Re: 63 wheels
Here are a few pix of the 63 wheels.
NOT sure where I "pirated" the 63 wheel spec pic, but I give credit to that unnamed individual.
The 63 wheels pictured are mine. I don't remember the exact dates on them. Best I recall is April of 63. Notice the "conical" shape on the rear of the rim.
They lack the extra step that you see in 65 and up wheels. That extra step is/was a safety feature, supposedly to prevent the bead of the tire from rolling off the rim.
Although I've not done exhaustive research, I always thought that the ONLY difference between 63 and 64 wheels was that the 64's had the hold drilled in the spider.
Obviously not 100% true according to some of these posts.
