    C1, C? lec Wiring Fire Protection......& Judging ?

Just going through the wiring diagram reminds me of what I did to protect my car from wiring shorts a long time ago. I put a fusible link at the 12g black wire feed coming off the solenoid on my 59 when I first got it. This will protect the car if one of those unprotected circuits goes bad.

I have a battery post switch too, but don't shut it every time I park the car, only long periods of non use, etc.

I've recently installed a nos engine harness and removed that fusible link. I'm going to install at a product we used on antique boats(ZERO fuses anywhere!). It's a big terminal mounted circuit breaker that goes between the battery solenoid terminal and 12g black feed.

I'd rather take the points hit than loose the car. Do you think we may consider allowing such a thing when judging.

    Does this make sense?

Here's the one like we used on the boats:

...and others, but these need a wire lug jumper and cover:

Fairly inexpensive protection. Being marine they're made for a moist environment. Heat may be an issue though.

        Rich,
Nice stuff and thanks for site address.
Would strongly suggest you add a fuse for the cig lighter. Do a search on that around the July 07 time frame.
If you fuse the lighter from behind judging will not see and you avoid a melt down from that circuit - do not ask how I know.

Hi Alan, You're welcome. Actually my lighter was fused by a prior owner. Only bad thing is the wire going to the fuse holder is still unproteceted as it runs by all that metal stuff.

That's why I like the circuit breaker idea right at the source at the solenoid feed. Better to have at least the lighter fused though, and the clock too! I can't believe they never fused those items. A little extra wire and 2 beefy fuses would've done the trick.
