    More Information on Torquing

Awhile back I came across a set of torque charts that are far better than any others that I have seen. I've included them in a PDF attachment to this post, along with references and a document I have written that explains everything.

I've wanted to this for a while now, but the recent discussion on lug nuts prompted me to finally do it..

I really think these torque charts are very good. This should help some in the lug nut thread.

I did the write-up in DOCX because the editor is better and I want to send it to people not on NCRS. Converted it to PDF for you guys.

    Open for comments.

    Dan,

Thanks for working on this. Good information to have.

I've added links to your files to the DoRD Sticky UPDATE Page. Note that I've created the 3 file links in the Update page to this page, so if you edit or make changes to the files here please let me know.

and for example running the numbers using the first chart in Dannn's Allied pdf chart, they show the average reduction required for proper torque with anti-seize applied is ~33% up thru a 1"-8 Bolt

Correct Mark, and 33% is in reference to 'lubricated', which is 25% lower than dry. There is a big difference here in friction, assuming it results in the same/similar clamp load and does not exceed proof load on the fastener. Clamp load is the bottom line in what's required.
