Hood surround

Hello everyone,
Question on the hood surround on midyears, with the hood
open on some cars here is a small divitt in front of the driver
in the channel where the hood closes into. It seems to be
important, wondering what it is? Any help appreciated.

That "pimple" in the gutter in front of the 13th louver from the outboard edge was in the surround mold for many years; lots of painters removed it, thinking it was a defect.

When you look at the surround mold and the technology involved in pouring resin on the preform out of coffee cans, it's surprising there aren't more strange inclusions in the finished part.
