Google Street View Reveals 1963 Split Window Corvette Barn Car

I posted these and one other photo tonight on my Corvette Blogger website.

It's cool yet sad to see the swc stored under a tree like that. In our post we called it a barn car that's missing only the barn. The car is in Spokane, Washington. Anyone know the backstory on it?

    Wow, it's a California edition!!!!!!!!!

    Very rare and desirable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should bring big bucks. THEN some restoration shop will glass in the third tail-light and return it to the way it left the factory at St. Louis destroying a piece of history.

    Yeah, right!

PS. Before some of you newbies go crazy, this is humor! Old time humor!

Joe, was that the Dealer in Los Angeles that sold several cars with 6 taillights? There was a comprehensive article about them in a Corvette publication several months ago, possibly Corvette Enthusiast, I think.

a lot of us installed the third tail lights in our midyears so we could have sequential turn signals like the mercury cougar

I believe this is the same car but I don't remeber where I found this back in February of 2005.

I'll have to post the white 63 coupe that is in the same condition as the car posted above. Sits in a driveway in the hinterlands of north Jersey.

Here is another split sitting on the side of rt 413 in eastern PA.

....and in May of 2005. Looks like the same pickup and Citation keeping the coupe company.

The shame of it is the owner has probably told a hundred people that he is going to restore so it is not for sale.

Hey! thats my house! I plan on building it someday after I am long gone. My wife will want to sell it for a dirt cheap price. My kids are lazy and do not care about old cars without air conditioning. I have the original motor in the back of the pickup.

The car broke down one day when the tire went flat. I did not have the time to repair the tire so I parked it...

I saw the rest of the car set up as a kiddie table at my local McDonalds

Clem remembers that when we bought our midyears from Grabiak Chevrolet you didn't even take them home until your had the 3rd taillite installed, the front bumpers taken off and kitchen sink spray faucet plugs put in the hole on the side of the parking lite panel, emblems taken off and holes filled. That was the standard in the mid 60's for sure.
Then when you traded them in you used a pickup to bring the front bumper assembly to Grabiaks and let them put it back on. Remember it like yesterday and wished I had saved the bumper hardware.

I feel sorry for the SWC though.
