What has everyone found to be the most accurate reproduction whitewall tire for a January built 63 coupe ? What tire brand and company would you suggest ? The car won't be a driver, so I would just like the best replica of the original. I tried a search on the subject, which i know exists, but just can't seem to master the archive search feature here. Thanks in advance.

Re: 63 Reproduction tires.
Tom, Refer to the standard Judging Reference Manual for Tires. I see where you are coming from though. Your goal is to not loose more than the 10% deduct for repro tires. There is a wide variable on deductions. My 63 has 4 Coker tires on it and it received a 10 deduct. Original spare helped pick up some points though. Tires are Goodyear. Valve stems and caps are important also. Buy the way most use Dill valve stem caps even though others are exceptable and correct. I believe Shrader is one of them. We buffed the dot off my tires but got caught cheating. Don't try and cheat dem judges. John- Top

Re: C2 valve caps
Alan, I believe the valve stems are longer for my 63. I would have to research my notes but I think there were about 1-1/2 long. Knockoff use a shorter one. I am sure guys will chime in here on this. The 627 Dill caps that are still available are not the same. Font is different. Size of the numbers are smaller than the olden days. Close but no cigar. I remember going to a local tire dealer who was a friend and spending hours going thru buckets of old valve stem caps getting the correct ones which have bigger letters and numbers for sure. Nit pickin I know. John- Top

Re: C2 valve caps
Thanks for the help. Coker makes an acceptable tire, you think ?

Re: C2 valve cap font
Good catch, I never looked that close (with glasses on). So the old one's I found were still a find (one was on spare). Interesting that the 63 stem was longer, but not surprising. I bet that original sizes vary - again different vendors at different times. Never surprised at the details that one can find here.
