    Suggestions for NCRS carb rebuild?

I had my carb rebuilt, but they used epoxy on the top black circles on the tops of the fuel bowls.

I had the car judged at the Des Moines regional and took a 5 point hit. 4 for the carb and 1 for the gasket. I have a gasket coming from Long Island.

I'm wondering where I can send the carb to get the epoxy issue resolved?

Also, any idea on cost for fixing something like that?

    Here's a picture.

Bob did my carbs about three years ago. I thought he was in semi-retirement now. BTW he did a great job.

I just recruited Bob about 2 weeks ago to do my 1x4 '56 carb back to NCRS correctness and then re-age it to match the original petina of the car. I'm looking VERY forward to it! Our email correspondence was great and he came off sounding like an expert perfectionest, which is exactly what I was hoping for

Bob has rebuilt mine a couple of times. This last rebuild has lasted over 6 years. He does excellent work and very easy to work with him. Highly recommend his service.....

            Chris,

I highly recommend Eric Jackson. www.vintagemusclecarparts.com. He has done a ton of carbs for never never any problems.

I think that Eric will tell you that the epoxy is not NCRS but at least your car won't catch on fire. In other words, you get everything else but epoxy was not factory, leaks were.

My 66 I had him do has epoxy in both places, before that it was a mess, could never get it sealed.

                    Hi Chris:

I had the same problem with a rebuilt 3810 I bought a few years ago. When I complained to the rebuilder, he said it was his standard practice to use the epoxy to prevent leaks.

However, he said that Holley had just started reproducing the 3810 fuel bowls, and he offered to swap on the new reproductions for the cost of the parts. The new bowls have been on they car for a few years now and so far, no leaks. Also no deductions in Flight judging.....

Clem what would cause a Holley 6210 spreadbore to leak from the top of the front and rear fuel bowls at the same time?

MY 6210 has not been used for about three years. Cleaned it with Gumont spray carb cleaner and used a Holley rebuild kit. Started the car and fuel leaked a real good flow coming from the fuel bowls top? Is there an O-ring or sealant under the stamped sealed plug that has been eaten away by the premium gas we buy at the pump? I have been using this 6210 since 1974 with no leaks.

Would JB Weld applied to the fuel bowls top seal work?

JB weld will worK BUT clean the area well with scotch brite if you don't have a bead blaster. i always air pressure check them at least double fuel pressure and use a soap solution to check for leaks after letting the epoxy dry well.

Thanks for the information Clem. I will give the JB Weld a try.

here is a ethanol proof epoxy that you may want to try as i am not sure if how ethanol proof J-B weld is. http://www.masterbond.com/info/epoxy...FYp_5QoddCXxtQ. i have used J-B weld in the past but how much ethanol is in the fuel now days is a good guess

Eric Jackson rebuilt my carb two years ago and I have had no problems and lost no points this year at the Charlotte National.
The carb was on my 67 L-79.
