Re: the glass car company
Lyndon, i would frequently visit them. I don't know if you've ever been there but his cars were superb, at least on the surface.A friend of mine bought a beautiful black/black 65 fuelie coupe.Turns out it was a made up car.My understanding after speaking to several people through the years is that he was involved with some highly questionable money transactions. He also was being sued by several people for selling falseified cars. When he was cornered by the feds he took off and some say he went to Florida.
Did you ever have dealings with him? If you have any other information let me know. Lou- Top

Re: the glass car company
Based on a followup article in one of the early vette magazines Larry Megibow, owner of the Glass Car company finally died. Believe the article mentioned some illegal activities, Canada, and that he was a fugitive for a while.
I recall at least three articles writtem about the GCC and a story about one of the ditors buying a 67 bigblock ragtop.
Had a handful of Cobras in the rt 23 showroom along with many nice vettes. I can still see that a black 1960 fuelie parked along the back wall.- Top

wow blast from the past!
went to butler many years ago,(early 70's), to buy a mid year. Brought along a vette guy ,who advised me to stay away.(BTW, this guy ended up in trouble with vettes as well)Bought my 70 convert instead.
I thought he went to the jersey shore area before disappearing.- Top

I tend to agree with Joe. I lived in that area in the early 70's and visited GCC many times. Almost bought a 56 for $6500. Still kick myself on that. Anyway, local folks seemed to feel he worked a bad deal with the local Family that was in control of the area. As a result he went on the run and ended up with cement boots.
We'll never know..

Re: the glass car company
Lyndon,
March, 1988 Vette magazine, article by Martyn Schorr. Larry was arrested in Canada, extradited to NJ. Had a massive coronary and officially pronounced dead. Article offers other opinion that he may be in a witness protection program. It also noted all the alleagtion directed at GCC and Larry. Allegedly sold cobras he had leased.
An October 1987 Old Cars Weekly is cited as running a detailed article on some of the flim flam that went on.
Drove past GCC everyday to work after it moved to rt 23 in Butler, stopped in every now and again when I would drive the old Almond beige, cobwebbed and pinstripped SWC to work on a 110 mile round trip commute.
