I am needing to replace my original cam part # 3732798. Can someone please help me identify which cam is a correct replacement part number is both design and function and where to buy? I want it to sound like it did originally.

Craig, search the archives. A few years back Joe Lucia did several posts on 63/64/65 camshafts.

        Craig

Crane makes a blue-print 300 HP cam for the 64. This is the same lift and duration as stock.

        Good Luck

I was just told Cranes is no longer in business.

Harry, I did a search and read the posting but want to make sure which is the best fit for me. Always wanting to be doubly certain.

            Thanks,
            Craig

You should be able to obtain a Federal-Mogul replacement. I don't know if they make this exact cam, but they do make the equivalent of the GM #3896929 which replaced the 3732798. Believe me, no one will EVER know the difference.

Want a GM cam? No problem. Order a GM #14060651. This cam replaces the 3896929 and is virtually identical. No one will ever know the difference between this cam and your original 3732798 cam, either. There is a problem here, though: the GM #14060651 GM lists for about 300 bucks. The Federal-Mogul piece will be a lot less.

Thanks Joe. Do you know the part number replacement from Federal Mogual?

                Cheers,

Joe, I went to the Federal-Mogul website and typed in the parts number but no luck. Do you know a vendor who recognizes this particular part number?

                    Thanks,

Joe, sorry for the repetitive postings. I did go to the GM website and can buy the GM cam GM #14060651 you suggested for $180. Are both the GM and Federal-Mogul identical in sound and performance as the #3732798? I just want to be certain.

                      Thanks,
                      Craig

Geez, nine replies... It must be rocket science!

I'll make it simple - just go to NAPA and order a Sealed Power CS274. It costs less than $60. Get a set of lifters, too. The counter guy can look them, and the OP can look them up on the NAPA online catalog, too.

You paid three times the price for what is essentially the same part!

You couldn't tell the difference between the OE cam, the 929, and the two succeeding GM part numbers without a Cam Doctor analysis.

I just did a NAPA search on 3896929 and selected the interchange option. Here is the result:

Duke, do you know who makes NAPA cams? is it FM?
