    Interesting auction, Shooter.
That ePay seller is wel known classic Corvette parts dealer John Greenhoe. I think it is fair to say Greenhoe finds, and sells some of the very toughest parts to find, but sells at very high prices. Kind of low volume, high markup. I'm not criticizing him. The buyer knows up front that the part is rare, and expensive.
What we'll sometimes do for a few points in judging. (some of us, as I'm a past customer of Greenhoe)

      Now if they were FP's.....

OK I'll give out a trade secret here. The LF bolts were speraticly used on mid 70's to mid 80's small block motors as timing chain cover/oil pan bolts. I have accumulated a few hundred that way in the past. (If you listen closely you can hear the hoods of 70-80 GM cars opening all over the country right now).

If they're NOS, I don't know where they came from. The GM #9425439 screw was never available in SERVICE.

In any event, please note that the $750 is an ASKING PRICE. They have not been SOLD yet. If they do sell, we'll know that the economy is not bad everywhere.

Ridge, You're right, more power to him if he can get it. I'm not familiar with the 3x2 set-up, I'm assuming the bolts are at least visible, right? I'd hate to spend that much and not even be able to see them when you openeed the hood. chuckle, chuckle

Rich, that's funny. Along with all those hoods opening you can also hear the air going our of the seller's balloon.Shooter

              Joe,
He DID say they were RARE. Maybe they only made one set.

You can't see them with just the hood open. The air cleaner lid must be removed to see them.

I have felt the pain from purchasing from John. I bought a complete original A.I.R system from him. No complaints, but he's does have some rare original parts and if you need them it will cost. Two Bolts for $750.00. is it really worth the points?

Originals were only available in production.
There were about 7, 540 of these produced.
                    No accurate ropops.
The original head marking for the '67's was NOT "LF".
I have three different sets of these bolts that appear to be correct configurations, but, only one pair has the correct head mark.
The other four are worth about 50 cents apiece.
The last original pair I saw were purchased about 10 years ago at Carlisle for $100., the guy thought he "stole 'em", looks like he did.

That makes me thankful that I have an old 55 C1 , there cant be a bolt on a C1 that cost that much. Only C2's can bring that kind of money , Having a C1 is now a POOR man's Corvette.

Its been quite awhile since I was at a meet, or got a car judged, but I remember when I was going thru the judging on my 63, there was another guy there with a ridiculously correct 63. I got a top flite and his car made mine look like a turd. If his car woulda needed those bolts (yes I know they arent used on a 63) he'd of paid the 750.00 without batting an eye. Its kind of a sickness. Its not a bad thing....just that alot of folks ,including me, can't lay that kind of smack for bolts. However, there are plenty of folks who can, and will.

This Greenhoe outfit has been around a long time. Somebody is buying his parts. I'd bet alot of them are on here, and are afraid to admit to it.

I think the seller is very shrewd.
Look at the attention its drawing, no such thing as bad attention, just ask some idiot 16 year old girl who's daddies own hotels. Sometimes in my auctions on ebay I throw in an auction for a bag full of original 1967 tire air. Ridiculous and stupid? Of course.

It always increases the amount of hits my auctions get.

In a few weks after they do not sell, they might be relisted at 1/2 that price and sell immediatly as the buyer will think now he's getting a home run purchase and only paying 1/2 price!
