C1 and Pass car front suspension

I just noticed that my 60 sits about an inch low on the front left corner. Now the first place I would normaly look to correct this is the coil springs but I seem to remember hearing that even though many of the passenger and corvette suspension parts are the same that the corvettes had some differences that would allow it to sit lower than the passenger cars.

What I'm getting at is should I be looking for incorrect suspension parts installed, possibly from a passenger car to correct my ride height or is it pretty much a sagging spring issue?

Greg, I would measure all four cornors, sometimes and sagging rear spring will effect the front suspension ride height.

Greg, there's a vertical "steering knuckle" support P&A group 6.023 between the upper and lower a frames. Part numbers are on these supports and are left 3733449 and 3733450. Passenger car part numbers are 3703785 and 3703786. The geometry is different and will cause a C1 front end height problems, especially if one side is a C1 part and the other is a passenger car part. Upper and lower A arms are the same as is the spindle, Springs is about all that is left, but first, is it suspension or body? Measure from a flat floor the the center of the inner pivot points on the lower "A" arm. That will let you know if it is truly a suspension sag, or a problem with the body itself. I beleive the measurement is in the ST-12 manual.

The spindle supports are different on a corvette vs. passenger. These are the parts that your spindle fits into and the kingpins connect these two parts together. There is about a1"+ difference in the two different parts........

Depending on whether we're talking about 49-52 or 53-54 pass car spindle supports.

Also, DO NOT even consider installing pass car coil springs in a 53-62 Corvette. The pass car springs are MUCH taller and stiffer than Vette springs. If you put pass car springs in a Vette frontend, the UPPER A-frames will ALWAYS be bottomed out on the upper bump stops.

Re: C1 and Pass car front suspension

Well it took me while to get at it but tonight I measured from the control arm inner pivot to the floor and the drivers side is about 1/2"-3/4" lower than the passenger side. I didn't check the rears because they are new and the back actually sits pretty nice.

Looks like I'll be replacing the front springs this winter or next spring. Where would be a good place to get a proper set of springs. I'm not concerned about a NCRS correct look but I do want the car to sit properly.

              Thanks.

Sander, thanks for the great photos. Would you please provide the measurements from each end to the bushing tube and and the bushing tube length if they differ. What are the part numbers of each of these steering knuckle supports? Many thanks, Gary....

                    Sander,
Is it OK if I save the picture to my album?
I am certainly very familiar with the difference between the two, but I do not have a nice picture of the two side by side.

but i think it was a 3/4 inch in difference
