This is another question from a Corvette rookie seeking his dream car! I recently aquired a 1962 that has been apart for 20+ years. While sorting through the boxes of misc stuff, I have identified the metal splash panels that fit behind the front wheels. However, I don't seem to have anything that fits in front of the front wheels. I am not sure if there should be a panel that fits in this area or if it is open to the back of the headlamp pans, my AIM and other books do not indicate anything for this. I would appreciate any help that can clarify this area. Also, thanks for all the help I have received from the NCRS members in the past few months. Eric

Re: sorting a 62 puzzle - body question
Thanks for the input. You confirmed what I was thinking but looking from the front of the body with the lamp pans out it seems like there should be more to it than there is. In reference to J. Grantham's note, are you refering to the wiring seals (grommets) or is there a seal at the rear splash panel? I must have missed this one in the AIM. Eric- Top

Re: sorting a 62 puzzle - body question
The seals I refer to are actually called weather stripping. It is u-shaped and presses on the outside edges. I think it is really to prevent rattling and squeaking. You can purchase a set (2 pieces) from most corvette parts catalogs. There was only one splash shield on one side on my car and it had the weather strip still intact. I bought another splash pan for the left side and a pair of the seals.- Top
