Hey I would be happy to get out one day or two and help you remove that stuff off the car. Nothing wrong with a little elbow grease.
Find out what the best products are and lets make it a beer and pizza undercoating party.
I looked up that undergone and the reviews were not good. Find other options, eg mineral spirits, etc
Prep any automotive surface for a new coating with paint removers, surface cleaners and more from Eastwood Auto.

Elbow grease is not the poper term for this job. Lots of patiece and time. I had no luck wih Undergone either but good old fashioned kersene worked great. Disssembly is the way to go. Clean the small parts off the car whenver posible. Any natural finish or dipped black part will clean up well. You will need to use heat on the fame itself as it was painted with asphatic paint and the kerosene will remove it instantly. Try a heat gun and plastic putty knife on the frame. I did it on a 3300 mile 72 car and the results were unbeliveale. I never did the frame but the next owner did something I could never determine.
My guess is it took e 60-80 hours on a 4 post lift.
Like a few of the others I'm surprised that the presence of undercoating did not add up to more points.
Good luck. Lots in the archives on this subject.

VM&P Naphtha and a lot of patience. Remember anything that will dissolve the undercoating is flammable. Be careful with heat guns, fiberglass does not do well with flames.

I removed the undercoating from one '67 last year and I'm doing it on another '67 this year. Undercoating is a mixed blessing, but if the car was used in a bad climate, it really helps preserve the chassis. I found some amazing original paint and markings after many, many hours of work in my garage. I've been using a product called PB Blaster and following up with simple green. In both cases I've been successful in transferring 46 years worth of grease and grime from the car to me.......

Be sure when using chemicals that the area is well ventilated. May be a good idea to use a fan to blow the fumes away. Be sure to use eye glasses and a mask.

Marc, if the car is in the South Florida area, I'll help too. Let me know Gary.

I have a product that removes the undercoating fairly easily. It comes in a quart spray bottle it is a natural product so the only harm to the enviroment is from the undercoating your removing it does get messy so you have to wear gloves nitrile hd recommended. I did my 71 LT1 total time about 4-5 hour I have before and after pictures. If you can leave it on as long as possible it just melts it. It was made to remove tar from ashpalt trucks without harming the paint. If you are interested send me a private message.

Les, I suspect that more of us wouldn't mind knowing what the product is, if you could share.

The product is called Tar-X I was at a trade show and I was given a sample to try I became a distributor after I used it on my 1971. IT is Biodegradable the undercoating you are removing is the hazardous part. You spray it on if you can Pressure Wash it off that works get or you can use a brush and lots of newspapers, plain water and lots of paper towels. You might have to spray the item a couple of times the longer it stays moist on the material the more it removes. I used a plastic scrapper and garbage can with a liner inside to drop it into. I have a case of it it sells for $30.00 a spray bottle quart. It all depends on how thick the undercoating is but one quart might do.
