            Vinnie,

Could you please include Col. John E. Pirkle, Sr. We all knew John and he was such a man among men during the Viet Nam Conflict. I will bring you a copy of his obit to Florida and you make the decision. I'm sure the consideration would be appreciated by all. John was one of the most decorated soldiers I have known. It was a honor just being in his presence. He was an American hero!

                Vinnie,

We also need to include Dave Ferguson! Here's some specifics:

Ferg was a decorated veteran. He graduated from the USAF Test Pilot School in 1972, and flew over 200 missions during his two tours of duty as a Fighter Pilot in Viet Nam. Ferg received the Legion of Merit twice for his work on classified programs and was honored with two Distinguished Flying Crosses, eight Air Medals and the Aerospace Walk of Honor.

After Ferg’s retirement from the USAF, in 1979 he became a test pilot for Lockheed. He was the second company pilot to fly the F-117A, the country’s first operational stealth aircraft. On September 29, 1990, in his capacity as Chief Test Pilot for Lockheed's YF-22A Advanced Tactical Fighter Program, he was the first person to fly the YF-22, the predecessor to the F-22 Raptor fighter plane.

Dave was past president of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, and was honored with the Society's Iven C. Kincheloe Award twice, once for flight test of the F-117A in 1983 and again for testing the YF-22A in 1991.

Once again...I have the members who responded AND mentioned above. In addition I have, John Mazach, Kent Miller, Larry Colvin, Mack Angel, John Hinckley & Mike McCloskey (who will write the article with me)...Rick...thanks for the info on Ferg...I attended his burial at Arlington...and did a tribute to him and John Pirkle in The Restorer a few years ago...Please understand, EVERYone of our veterans are heroes and will be recognized, but it's the aviators that will be the main theme of the story...look for it in the special edition Summer 40th Anniversary issue of The Restorer.

I'm going to re-lock this thread and anyone else responding please send it to my email
