    Electrical system gremlin

I've been fighting a gremlin for the last few months. It's intermittent and that's what is driving me nuts.

The problem involves the heater/air-conditioner selector. On several occasions I have gotten out of the car and forgotten to select "off" on bothe the blower fan switch and the air conditioner (left side) of the controller. When I go back out a couple of days later the battery is dead. I have eliminated the fan switch, leaving the problem in the mode selector.

My question is, isn't the electrical system (except the cigarette lighter and clock) supposed to be "dead" when the key is off. Is the problem in the ignition switch leaving this system hot, or is there a connection/short in the console selector somewhere?

    Thanks.

    Kurt,

as I remember things - there should be no power at all once the ignition switch is turned off.

I would bet on a faulty ignition switch.
If by chance you removed or replaced the switch, It has to be adjusted correctly when mounted to the column.
