    Did ALL Calfornia 67 L79 Corvettes have A.I.R. /SMOG?

My 67 corvette was sold at Harry Mann Chevrolet, California per/NCRS records using my VIN. It has a matching numbers L-79. There is no A.I.R. Equipment on it except a PVC Valve and maybe the 2nd. unused belt pulley on the crank... Likely it all was just removed long ago, as most did.
The stamped SUFFIX on front of block is "VO3I7HT" not HD as my book (Corvette By The Numbers) says it should be.

What are the possible explanations for this besides a fake stamp/engine change, if any?????

    THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!

I understand that all '67's sold in CA would have had AIR and yes, most were pulled early. As to the stamp ..... if the answer isn't your first two guesses it could be a mistake made at the plant. I'm assuming that the vin stamped on the pad matches your car's? If so, you could have it evaluated by someone who is a professional - Al Grenning perhaps.

    Good luck
    Rob

      Doug -

The order edit program at Central Office should have caught it (California order without K-19), and the plant order edit program should have caught it too, but neither one did. California (C.A.R.B.) didn't physically inspect every new car delivered in the state either; it appears that this one may have simply slipped through the cracks without K-19. Stuff happened.

Doug, Another possibility -- dealers have always swapped inventory around, it's a stretch but HM could have swapped with a dealer in Vegas or elsewhere that had a car (color) that customer wanted or vice versa. Back in the day I took a new '67 Camaro from Plains Chevy in Amarillo to Hudiburg Jones in OKC for '67 coupe that a customer wanted in Amarillo wanted and it was too late in the year to order -- if NCRS paperwork shows HM as delivered to dealer then as John said it just slipped by

Yes the VIN matches. I bought it from PRO TEAM 8 or so years ago as a Matching Numbers car. This week I put it on EBAY and someone brought up the question... which had not occurred to me. Actually it was only last year that I requested the NCRS Dealer Info. and found out that it was a HM Car. PAD looks "OK" but what do I know! THANKS for the quick reply!!! Pad/VIN was part of EBAY pictures. Listed as item # 321137537769
