    '65 N11 exhaust

I recently saw an ebay add for a set of N11 exhaust pipes and mufflers. My car has the same numbered mufflers. I don't know if mine are originals but I do know that my car came delivered with N11, per original window sticker. Maybe they could be service replacements?? Here are numbers:

    GM
    3845737
    3 2 209 8A

    GM
    3845736
    5 1 146 2 A

PS: curious as to the last set of numbers also, IE dates ect. Thanks Blake

Hello; To the best of my knowledge, ORIGINAL factory N11 systems did not have the raised part numbers, etc. on the muffler, but the GM service replacements did! The original systems installed at the plant had the words OFF ROAD sprayed on the mufflers in yellow ink.....

Andy is correct. OEM off road mufflers only had the letter A on them, no part numbers or dates with the OFF ROAD ASSEMBLY sprayed with yellow ink.

Both sides are GM Service replacements:

The 5737 was built in Arvin plant #3, on 2nd shift, on the 209th day of 1968 (or 78).

The 5736 was built in Arvin plant #5, on 1st shift, on the 146th day of 1972.

John, I have also seen a 735 part number used for N11 exhausts. I believe the 737 unit replaced it but I was wondering why. Thanks in advance.

If anyone has a photo of an original production 1965 N11 muffler, I'd appreciate it if you would post it on here or email it to me.

                Thanks.

Interesting discussion, my thoughts were wrong (should not have agreed with judge, ah next time)

Hear is some information from John Daly and also see

The part drawing for 3845292 is on the GM system...it says simply:

                      Re: '65 N11 exhaust

Here's a service N11 (driver side) that I bought at the GM dealer about 1980 or 81 {if memory serves me well}.

Using John H's code-break, looks like Arvin plant #1, 1st shift, 323rd day of 1981.

So I guess my memory was a year or two off , depending on inventory.
