    BB Rad Overflow Hose

This is a bit trivial but I just finished installing the overflow hose from the nipple just under the cap, routed it along and down the shroud through the (2) clips.

I purchased the hose from Doc Rebuild which is a reproduction of 3002029 along with his reproduction retainer "clips" of 3850786.

    My questions are this:

    (66 application not 65)!

    1. Is it normal to see the hose slightly crimped as it turns into the nipple under the Rad. cap? --- I have tried several attempts to avoid it; however, the hose is thin walled and keeps flattening out a bit.

    2. How far should the hose extend under the radiator ----- it's about 9" currently "as received".

    3. Should the loops on the retainers be oriented outboard or inboard?

    Thank you,
    Ralph

Ralph, sometimes the rubber hoses they have a natural curve from being stored in a reel, If it does try unhooking the hose and remove to see if it does.Sometimes this will help with kinking of the hose on the install.

      Ed,
I gave it another try and it continues to flatten out (crimp) no matter what I do, so I inserted a small 3" curved section of that hard plastic air hose which retracts in a coil, luckily the OD was identical to the ID of the overflow hose and it worked perfectly. If originals do not crimp then this hose is not to the OEM
      standard as advertised?
As far as the excessive length of the hose goes; intuitively I want to cut it a couple of inches below the bottom of the radiator, but I will hold off to see if anyone has any specs.
      Thank you,
      Ralph

Ralph, Do you have a AIM for your car.it maybe shows how its run and give you a approx length. My copper/brass Radiator on my 72 runs like your car likely and is just to the bottom of the radiator area.I am sure the length of hose was not always the same, but just long enough not to make a mess if it overflows.

Ed, it shows the hose @ UPC L72 B1 , but not defined dimensionally or pictorially where it terminates. Unless I hear otherwise I will just cut it like your 72 and be done with it.
          Thank you very much, Ralph
