This engine has quite a tale to tell. I'd have to say it was a "lucky Friday the 13th" which was also my Dad's birthday. Maybe one of these days we'll see it on the judging field and Doug can tell the rest of the story.

Thanks Robert, I saw that thread before and mentioned to Eric that I had answered an ad in Vette magazine , April 1990 from Mark Lincoln about the block. I had looked for a real red/red coupe and bought one in the spring of
1989 ( 08599), knowing it did not have the original engine, as it was a retired drag car . Bought the block from Mark in 1990. It is back in the car , runs great .

The pad definitely looks better than the 3 in the initial post. I guess 1/13 is the most likely engine assembly date for cars built around that time.
