I have a buddy (really it's not me) who has an '89 that is having an issue with his A/C compressor. While moving the compressor works properly keeping the cabin cool and cycling as needed. When he stops at a light it only takes a few seconds of sitting that the compressor "locks" up and the serpentine belt slips making an obvious squeal. Coolant hasn't been added or removed ever and it only started happening this summer. He did say that his outer auxiliary fan seems to kick on and off when the A/C cycles. I thought as long as the A/C switch was "on" in the cabin the front fan ran continuously, but I am just assuming that. Can anyone help him determine what is going on?
