window regulator

A co-worker has a one owner Prowler. He shared a repair information with me on the replacement of the drivers power window regulator. Cost $1,500.00 at the dealership. Took about 10 days to find and replace the regulator. The dealership said the passenger window regulator needed replacement, but he declined stating that he would just leave the window up. Not Corvette related, although Corvettes do have power window problems. My 70 with original power windows still works great, original switches as well. I have replaced my 85's plastic/nylon ribbon on the passenger side about 10 years ago. Drivers side is original and still functioning.

ps The Prowler's replaced parts were asked for, dealership said they were already thrown away.

Jim, Where did you get the ribbon for the regulator, I someone that needs a ribbon. I know GM doesn't make it any more. If you want to fix it through Gm it a 475.00 part which is a complete replacement assy.

Edward I got the ribbon for my 85's ribbon many years ago from a Corvette parts supplier of GM parts. I did not know GM longer has this part for our C4's. Wonder if Auto Zone has it?
