    Repro windshields - mid year

I visited Spring Carlisle and it seems that there is only one manufacturer of repro date coded windshields left (Auto City Glass). OEM Glass seems to be out of the market. Any one know of another source? ACG price for date coded windshield is high.

    PS Auto glass

I have had good experience with them. Just Google them for contact info. Same glass source as most but better price and service. Date codes are excellent if you need it.

Pilkington is the successor to LOF and can produce a windshield a replacement for your original. I gave them the etchings from my original '64 windshield that I cracked during removal and they reproduced them. I have heard that the shading across the top of the windshield is not identical to the original but if you have to have a replacement, Pilkington seems to be as close as you can get to original.

The cost was $290 + $50 for the etching plus freight of $110. I ordered mine through a local glass company and paid a $100 premium over the cost plus installation cost. I didn't want to risk cracking it while installing it myself. I'm glad I did because it was a bear to install, mainly because the replacement clips I bought did not function well.

        Doug,

Thanks. This is the same price as Auto City Glass charges that is located in Minn. I purchased a date coded windshield from ACG several years ago and it was fine. I'm lead to believe that ACG provides the glass for all now. If you order at a show they will pay for the freight. Price for a non date coded windshield is $165.
