Rear Housing #3876476-N Date L-9-5, Stampings on the bottom pad are to rusted to see. What corvette is it from? year? As always thanks in advance!!

My late '65 (FA_7_15_65) has one [3876476]. My early '65 has the 3818753 (AP_9_17_64) carrier..


The '476' probably went thru 1966 as well, but by 1968 is the 3899143 cast, which continued for a while.

P.S. Here's another data point: My "doorstop" empty carrier is 3899143, cast D_12_7, assy. AU_5_17_67, so I guess they were using the '143' in late '67 (at least).

Great Info Thanks Wayne. Do you know what the -N is for after the casting # ? and the date of L-9-5 is that november 9th of 65

I'm no metallurgist, but I believe Joe Lucia has mentioned that the suffix -N stands for nodular iron. My October '68 carrier 3899143 does not have the N, but the other numbers (the '753' and '476') do.

Not quite; the letter "I" was used in casting, so L_9_5 is December 9th, 1965.
