Hardtop refurbishing, midyear
Questions for those who may have recently R&R'd hardtop wx strip & headliner ... I find the A.I.M. and ('63) shop manual directions vague & the Glassworks youtube video doesn't address this in much detail:
What is a suitable "... polyurethane sealer..." to use between the cap, the side drip molding(s), the forward drip molding, and the side reveal molding(s) and the hardtop's frame? The illustrations in the shop manual show a putty-like material being applied with a paint stirring stick.
Is there any sealant used when affixing the inner fwd wx strip (pin/plug retainers) or the outer wx strip assembly (U-clip retainers) or the door window wx strip(s)? My top had lots of sealant or adhesive or combination thereof in these areas, but suspect it was PO trying to stop leaks. Perhaps it's wise to use some 3M or equiv in these areas?
Also, looking for a cement recommendation for the new headliner installation.
