NOS 427 Oval Port Intake Gaskets-Anybody have some???

I did a search on this, but did not come up with anything.

I'm looking for a set of NOS 427/390hp oval port intake gaskets if anybody has some. Probably not likely, but i thought i would ask anyway.

Did the original gaskets have a part number? If so, does anybody have that part number, it might aid in my search.

    Thanks

I made a set by using NAPA gaskets and cutting a new profile to match originals shown in the Corvette Service Manual. No GM part number but they only cost about $10.

The ones on the manifold are the correct profile
The other photo is NAPA parts

Thanks! Are they NAPA brand gaskets or just gaskets that you purchased at NAPA auto parts? Should I use cork front and rear seals or are they supposed to be rubber?

Those pictures are very helpful and again, i appreciate it. There is no way i could make the felpro gaskets that i purchased from summit look correct.

        Thanks
        Christopher------

First question: does anybody have any? Yes, I have lots of them. That's the good news. I guess the bad news is that I don't want to sell any.

Second question: what is the part number? The last available gasket set which was configured like the original was the 1969 gasket set, GM #3955526. This set was virtually identical to the original but has been discontinued for MANY years.

Last question (which you didn't ask): can I obtain a good reproduction gasket set? Yes, you can. Paragon reproduces such a set. The end seals won't have "GM" embossed on them, though.

Chris, Depending upon how your intake sits you can see parts of the McCord logo and there is a number there, but most of that gets covered up.

I thiugh sure I posted that this last summer.

Well thanks for that teaser. You cant take them with you, ya know.

I read another thread stating that the paragon repro gaskets need to be trimmed as well. However, that was an older thread and perhaps they have improved them since then. I will take a look at their site.

Thanks and if you decide to let any of your inventory go, please let me know.

Christopher, The end seals are a rubber/neoprene material, not cork.

I forgot that the heads had to shaved about .015 to remove pitting. The original owner took the engine apart in the seventies and let the cylinder heads sit outside in the elements. Obviously cast iron and moisture dont play together nicely, so the machine shop had no choice put to shave them down a bit. However, i did not have any problem installing the intake with the aftermarket fel pro gaskets, but they may be a bit thicker. I am replacing the gaskets because i blocked off the crossover and that is one of the reasons why the choke is not functioning correctly.

Christopher --- here's a link from about a month ago, discussing BB manifolds, heads and (indirectly) gaskets. Down in post #6, I show a pic of my NOS oval gasket(s) against a square port head. The GM and McCord numbers are visible.

AFAIK, it's the grey metallic patina on the NOS that would be the most difficult to reproduce, IMO.

See, just because I do not sell parts does not mean that others don't! John M. and Jimmy G. offer the perfect solution for you.

By the way, your original question only asked if anyone had any of these gaskets, not specifically if anyone had any for sale. That's what I responded to. Of course, I do realize that whether anyone had any for sale was the implication of the question.

And a cynic might call it a cleaver way to get around the prohibition against dealign parts on this board -- but none of us would be that cynical, would we? The thought would never cross our collective minds.
