    Frame

Are there any difference in the bolt pattern on the frame horn from 68 to 72? I looked at a 70 and a 72 frame today and the bolt pattern was not the same. The two leading holes were spaced different, both had weld nuts at the top hole.I thought there was only one inner extension brace for 68-72 frames. If this is correct, will the extension brace need to be altered for the different pattern?

While there are minor differences and there were different frame part numbers over the period, 1969-72 frames are functionally interchangeable. 1968 frames are different but, in a pinch, can be modified to work with later.

      Joe,

The frame in question is the 70.I looked at another frame this morning and the 70 is the odd bolt pattern. The top leading hole in the frame is there with weld nut in place, but was not used.Theinner frame extension had another hole drilled as well as the frame horn. This lined up with the two mounting holes of the outer brace. The appearance from the outboard side is normal since the extension bracket covers the unused hole. The inside view shows the unused weld nut.How would this be accepted when being judged?

I expect it would be a minor deduction IF it is discerned.
