    1967 BB A/C pulley diameter

In 1971 I added A/C to my 427. It was not available with the 435 HP. I bought all the right 427 pulleys for the 67 BB but need to make sure I have the right diameter pulley for the compressor.

    Question:
What is the outside diameter of the A/C compressor pulley? I have a number in my shop to choose from.

I don't know what the OD was but the same pulley was used for all 1964-68 Corvettes as well as virtually all 1962-68 full size passenger cars and light trucks. So, it ought to be a pretty common one.

      Joe,
      Thanks and congrats on 25K.
I am rebuilding 3 compressors and one is a virgin off a 67 L79. It measures apx 5 3/4 '' OD. Most of my other pulleys are about 5''OD. I just bought a 5 3/4 pulley banking on it being the one I will need for my vettes.
I was thinking that the larger diameter was there to slow the compressor down when used with a high performance engine in the vette.

On my 65 I have a 327 365 HP it calls for a bigger pulley of 6 3/8" because of the high HP.

          Ralph thanks,
That's getting the size of a flywheel, I thought 5 11/16 was big.
          I measured yesterday and found 7 pulleys 4 7/8'' and 2 at 5 11/16.

Now all I need is the OD of the 67 BB pulley.

            Dom,

My '64 and 2 '65 compressor pulleys have the larger 5 3/4" OD pulleys. I've got several '68~74 compressors and they all have smaller pulleys (about the same diameter as the case). All of my compressors are "302s". Don't know if this helps or not.

              Mike,
I think it's telling me that the 5 3/4'' pulley is the most comon with the exception of the 365 HP 327 so far.

Joe mentioned that they were the same 64 to 68 but the 6 3/8'' on the 65 327/365 doesn't agree.

Someone has a stock 67 BB and hopefully can give me their OD.

I called LIcorvette and they only have the 327/365 pulley.

                Hi Dom,

I recently met Page Campbell and he showed me a '65 365 horse AC pulley on a car of his and it is much larger. Worth a small fortune for a real one. Page is very knowledgable with midyear AC parts. Maybe he can help you with your search.
