1978 350 L82 WATER PUMP ID part number

Hello...
I have a mid production year 1978 Corvette Pace Car with the L82.
I was wondering about the water pump.... I need to know what numbers should be on there?.. 330818? 330813? or something else? in order to have the correct "NCRS" water pump.

The casting numbers can be tricky to read. It depends on the degree of cast iron 'fill' when the part was made. A '3' can easily look like an '8' based on this factor. Below is a close-up pix of one of these critters. Note the 'S' for Saginaw underneath the cast number...

All late 1972 through 1982 Corvette small block waterpumps were GM casting #330813. There was no waterpump casting of GM #330818, so if you find any that look like that, what you're looking at is a 330813 that has a last "3" that looks like an "8". This is VERY common with casting numbers.

By the way, the 330813 casting was only used for L1972-82 Corvette small blocks and L1972-1990 heavy duty trucks with small blocks.
