1965 Corvette Coupe Heater Control switch and cable

I installed a reproduction heater control switch per the instructions . The heater blower motor now works in all speeds .

The problem comes in when the front heater blower motor is on, the rear exhaust blower motor will work at the same time?

When the original heater blower switch was working the rear blower would not work at the same time.

Is this the reproduction switch or is there a wiring problem?

Also can the original heater control switch be rebuild and is there someone who does that type of work.

    Thanks,Bill

Bill -- from my understanding, in '64 and '65 coupes, the "luggage compartment exhaust fan" should NOT work if the (front) heater blower motor is in operation. This is also what the '65 TIM&JG says, and what can be interpreted from the wiring diagrams in the '65 Corvette Shop Manual, and various pages in the AIM.

So I'd guess at a bad control. IIRC there are five contacts on the back of the switch; the triple connector can't be mis-installed, but I'm wondering if the 14BRN [power in] and the 16BRN [power out], which wire is part of the body harness to the rear, can be clipped to the wrong connector (although I'd think then that maybe NO front fan speeds would work, depending on the switch internal design).

      Bill -

As Wayne noted, there are five terminals on the back of the heater blower switch. Looking at the switch from the driver's view, the terminal at 6 o'clock takes the 14-ga. brown power feed from the dash harness, and the terminal at 4 o'clock takes the 16-ga. brown wire that feeds power to the rear blower. That 4 o'clock terminal should only be hot with the switch in the "off" position, and should be dead with the switch in lo, med, or hi position.
