    C2 Antenna Cable Replacement

I am in the process of replacing the antenna cable in my '66 coupe and started the work last night, it is amazing what you uncover when you start these projects. Took off the sill plate, pulled back the carpet and:

    1) the current antenna cable is a replacement and just runs under the carpet, not under the wire floor cover under the sill plate; 2) the original cable is still under the wire floor cover and has been cut upfront by the fuse box and at the rear of the car before it enters the grommet; 3) it appears the wire floor cover has never been removed, the tabs are rusty and likely can not be removed without destroying it (I will let it be); 4) by the rear wheel hub, someone spliced into the rear harness with a red/brown colored double wire spliced into the yellow colored harness wire and a single green wire spliced into the brown wire. However, the end of each of these wires are cut and lead to nowhere; 5) the replacement cable is routed though the same hole in the rear grommet as the wire harness. Getting that grommet out is will not be easy.

Any thoughts as to why someone would splice into the rear harness? Thanks for your comments.
