1968 early headlights value?

Last fall I purchased a 1968 front clip that was cut from a wreck that had been stored since 1972 so I was told.


I still didn't know how to tell what was what when looking at these headlights, my car needs both so I bought this and it was nice and close to carlisle so it was a no brainer for me.

when I got around to checking these headlights I found it was a set of the smaller early 68 headlights.

Now I need the later ones for my car I have found a set but now I need to sell these..

I need a ball park figure what are these worth? Im not trying to rob anyone and I do not want to give them away.

What should a good set of late 68 lights go for straight up correct for a 68.

Think about it this way. If an early 68 Corvette was hit the front bad enough to need headlight replacement, it was most likely replaced with a late 68 front clip and headlight setup.

The only real market I see for something like this is someone who has an early 68 with an undamaged front end, and the headlights were removed for some reason (fixed headlights, etc.).

I cannot help with pricing (Ebay, Corvette Forum, etc is your best bet), but I don't see them being worth significantly more than the later headlight setups. In fact, the market for those headlights may be REAL SMALL.

Possibly, someone with an early 68 that is wanting to return the car to absolute original configuration. Last time I checked, this was not a judged item.

John, I never heard of the early vs. later headlamp setup, can you please elaborate on this to expand my knowledge base. My 68 was built in Jan 68. Thanks

I have heard that there are 3 different styles of headlights for the 68 it says this in the JG.

Now If you take a tape measure and run it from the longest corner to corner

The small one will be 18 1/4 inches.
The large one will be 18 1/2 inches.

Now the large door is the same as 69-72 doors so they are easy to come by.

These are only for a select few cars like Ed said in his post, I feel that is the reason they should be worth more. Every other limited part is higher than the mas produced ones.

That doesn't mean anyone is buying them trust me I know! I have a ton of LT5 ZR-1 parts and its hard moving them right now small stuff and two motors.

I have a very early 68(1st or 2nd day of production) and looking for a headlight housing for the passenger side. Mine has a chunk missing. If our measurments match would you be interested in selling?
