      Re: 1972 U79 stereo

I have a '72 LT-1 that I bought several months ago. There is an aftermarket stereo installed, but luckily I got the factory stereo and convector with it. I plan on putting the factory stereo back in, so I took the lid off to repair the little string that flips the radio from FM to AM. That's when I saw a black tube pointing down at an angle, behind the face plate, which contains the light bulb for the FM Stereo indicator light. And the others are correct about the convector with a pin plug connector that plugs into the back of the stereo. I haven't removed the passenger side dash pad yet, to check, but the AIM indicates that there should be another amp connected to the stereo as well. The convector in my picture below is probably the one that goes behind the center console, I'm thinking.
