    (once more) '64-6 KO spinner center emblem color order

    Check this (eBay) -- Four NOS center caps in original packages; Two have clockwise color order: Red-->White-->Blue, and two have Red/Blue/White. Packages should read Gr 5.871 Emblem #3853825, although hard to read.

    Went back to my old pics (I've had 3 sets of original KO's, starting in '74). They ALL have clockwise R/W/B, which makes sense if there's only one part #. Unless GM applied the colors randomly .

    So what gives with this seller ? And what do the judges expect .

    Wayne, checked my three originals that are left, all R/W/B. Not sure what the NOS ones are that came in the blue/white packages, all say 3853825 and Made in Canada just under with no Group number listed.

      Wayne,
      Left over from years of restoring KH wheels I have approx. 100 original center caps. Out of these I found 2 painted as you describe. My guts tell me these are random and not by design. I hope the judging powers-that-be decide any combination of cap colors is acceptable. Bill

        Bill: I agree with you totally, I have the same package with caps as those that are selling for $300 2-RWB clockwise & 2-RWB counterclockwise I only paid $60 along time ago. If they were ment to be painted two different ways they would have two different part numbers.

          The judges want to see R-W-B.

            Hello Wayne;
            Think it is interesting the seller claims 2 rights 2 lefts. Are RWB right or left side in his scenario ?
            Ray
            And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
            I hope you dance

              He leaves it open for the buyer to decide which is to be installed on R or L side. I'd assume that the ones that are clockwise RWB when stationary would go on the driver side, and present RWB when rolling forward past a stationary datum (say) on the fender lip.

              The RBW (clockwise stationary) combo would go on the passenger side, so that when rolling forward, would present Red-White-Blue, past a stationary datum.

              Talk about making lemonade from lemons . Seller modified his description after this thread was posted, so he's obviously NCRS and probably a frequent visitor to this DB. He was originally asking $210; now it's $300. with this newly discovered "feature" of RH and LH colors.
