water pump pulley , crank pulley offset

1958 early 245 hp vette . The water pump pulley is offset forward by about 3/16 inch of the crank pulley . I have the spacer behind the balancer on the crank. The water pump pulley does NOT have the reinforsement spacer in it as not required. ..Is this correct and good enough or should they be more inline with each other.?? The water pump pulley is very close to hitting the water pump case so that cant be moved in any closer. The water pump is the correct p/n rebuilt by bill mock. what ealse could be wrong?? ARe all 1957 and 1958 step pulleys the same for all horse powers ?????? Please help !!! this is driving me crazy!! thanks for your time!!! john ross
