Steering gear box operation
I've got my original out right now. It's never been touched since new.
When I spin the rag joint, it feels very smooth. But when I put a bit of pressure on the pitman, then when spinning the rag joint, I can feel small bumps as I spin.
Is this normal, or is it time for a rebuild?
If it's rebuild time, I would like to install it as-is and come back to it later since this is a body off resto and I've got a whole lot of other stuff that needs more attention at this point.
Actually, even if it's not rebuild time, I'll probably take it out later, and as a mininum, take it apart to regrease it per Gary's threads.
