I have the opportunity to buy a frame for my corvette (which is rusted through and have been quoted between 2-3K to fix it. The cost for the frame is 2K plus shipping from portalnd, OR.
It seems to be from a 56-58. The brackets for the rear bumpers and rear axle strut rod has been stick welded on, not wire feed. The front part of the box frame where the front suspension bolts on looks weird to me.
He said it is not rusted through, just surface rust and no evidence of any accidents. Apparently some brackets were welded on and removed at one point at the side of the upper part of the box frame over the axle, but I can grind that off (maybe for a 61/62 rear end?). The mounting holes are there for the rubber bumper over the axle.
Is there anyone in Portland, OR or environs who would be kind enough to check it out, check a ferw measurements and let me know if the frame is sound? I need it for my 59. Please feel free to call me at 408-242-1880.
I can also email pics.
