I was wonder if someone can confirm the correct part numbers found on original knock off wheel adapters. I have two "right side" adapters that I think are orignal and have the part numbers of D-49989 on one and the other is a little more obscure looks like D-49339 but could just be less boldly stamped and be the same as the other. Both have a dichromate finish, I have seen originals on Ebay that have a more steel finish to them.

Re: knock off wheel adapter part numbers
Russell --- here's 3 pics of an orginal set off 5 wheels stamped early Jan of '66. The numbers are D-49989 on BOTH right and left hand threads. This was probably the raw casting number that was just machined differently for each side of the car. You can see the original surface finish on the middle of the first pic.
First two are for LH side and third is RH. Same casting #. I label my adapters (and one pin) and wheels (which side and frt or rear) so when I re-install, the felt marker line on the spinner lines up with that on the cone at a safe tightness.Last edited by Wayne M.; January 7, 2010, 12:16 PM.- Top

Re: knock off wheel adapter part numbers
Wayne, thanks for the pictures, mine look just like these. I think that the part number on 1 of mine is just a little hard to see the 3 & 4 number clearly but must be 49989 not 49339 as it appears to me. What do you think a pair of these are worth. I see one right side adapter on Ebay for $250 buy it now price, but that seems a little steep to me.- Top
