    1956 Job Number/VIN

I have found some numbers written on my drivers side kickup below the firewall that I'd like to have deciphered. The first number looks like a 3924 in black grease pencil (or it could be a 3424...actually more likely) that has been crossed through in black, then a 3426 that is legibly written two inches below. Was it a practice to put a corresponding VIN on the fiberglas on a 56 or is this more associated to a job number?

Also, what justification would there be to cross one out and re-write another? Screw up on the line and nothing to clean it off with? Inquiring minds...

I should probably know more about this than I do, but my search in the archives was unsuccessful. Probably looking in the wrong place.

    Appreciate the advice. Mark
