65 Tie Rod End Finish

Looking for clarification on the correct finish for tie rod ends. The JG for 65 states "the steering linkage assembly including tie rod ends, relay rod, adjusting sleeves and clamps are painted semi gloss black." I've seen judged cars with non painted tie rod ends that didn't receive deductions. Should I go by the Judging Guide?

If you want the car "correct", they should be painted.
