66 Trim Tag (Need Some Help)

The only part that I'm not sure about is just over the STYLE 66 is D04?
and also not sure what the A-1792 BODY means? Everthing else I understand.
I appreciate your help.

The way I understand it, the D04 is the body assembly date (A is the first month of production, D is the fourth). The A-1792 is the 1792th body built at A.O. Smith. St. Louis cars started with 'S'.

There were 4 series of body build numbers,
One each for Coupe or Convert, as well as the two Body builders.
So, that could be the 1792nd Dow-Smith body for either a coupe or a convert.
The 1943 or 1946 would tell you which (Coupe or Convert)

For the 1966 model year, the D on the TRIM TAG represents December 1965 for St Louis Bodies, and November 1965 for AO Smith Bodies.

Therefore your (AOS) Corvette body was made on Thursday, November 4, 1965 at AO Smith in Ionia, Michigan. It was then shipped by rail to St Louis for final assembly.

The time lag for transport and final assembly at St Louis was typically 1-2 weeks.
