I considered ordering the big tank, but dropped the idea after I realized the loss of rear compartment volume, though at the time I was just thinking about how much stuff I could pack in. That turned out to be a good decision other than future value.

It was the spring of '68 I had a 63 SS Impala 327 and I had just won 2nd place in the NY Coliseum car show. A friend had a '60 red Corvette with white coves and white hard top. $1,300 bucks! I sold the 63 and bought the Vette.

I came home with the car with a smile bigger than sunshine. My dad was sitting on our stoop with a letter in his hand. I had been drafted, off to Viet-Nam. I had the car for about two weeks.

Got me a 65, 365 side pipe convertible when I got back and drove it across country to Colorado, Ft Carson, but till this day I still miss that straight axel car.

It was 1957 and my brothers friend came over to show off his 'new' Corvette. It was a 53, white with black rag top, but it was a 'Corvette' so we were impressed. Later, in 1960, I got to return a 1958 Corvette back to our High School photographers shop when I worked weekends at a car wash. Smooooth 58, Charcoal/red 2X4's 4-sp etc. I was 16 and that did it!

Fall of '66, just started my Sr year in college, bought a '58 Nassau blue with a fresh 327/350 out of a '66 Nova in it. Leaving with my new purchase the seller handed me the FI scripts he had taken off the car when he painted it. Met Original owner, car was originally Regal Turquoise 250 hp 3 spd no radio car! Flogged the heck out of it until fall of '69 then sold it to buy a better tow car for the Drag car, (Corvette had already towed the car to Indy and back twice!)

20 years old in the spring of '69 at the University of South Carolina. James Bremer had been bombing around in his '59 all semester; he and it were fixtures on campus. When I saw a for sale notice for the car I had to have it, but all I had was $400. After a couple of weeks of negotiating, he came around and this is the car I bought:

I don't know what the engine was but it would propel the car through the quarter in 13.6.

The interior was "furnished" in pink shag carpet. The shifter was right out of a Rat Fink cartoon. And the seat bottom had one loose spring that was capable of altering your gender if you sat on it improperly.

Although I had this car for only one month, I was hooked. Shortly after selling it, I bought a '55, #236 but that's a story for another time.

25 years old and just divorced. Wanted something that represented freedom, excitment, youth and sex appeal. The NEW 1976 Chevrolet Corvette fit the bill perfectly.

In December of 1975 I purchased a brand new 1976 Corvette L48 Auto Silver with Black leather interior. Sticker price $9100.00. Don't remember what I paid for it, but traded in a 1973 Mustang Mach I. Never did like that car! It Has been the only Ford I have ever owned in my life.

I was on top of the world. I remember driving the car just after I bought it with the T-Tops off and it was 25 degress in Kansas City in December, but I didn't care.

That's me standing behind the car (with white name badge) almost 35 years ago with alot more hair and alot less weight!

Graduated from high school in 1961 and bought a 58 Corvette that summer for $1800.00.
Signet red, 2 tops base engine 3 speed. Kept it for a year and then bought my next Corvette in 1992, a Almond Beige 340 HP which I still own. Since then I have owned many but still have my favorite Almond Beige 62.

I was 23 in December of 1968 when I traded my 67 Renault 10 to my Navy roomate for his 67 Corvette. I remember him bringing the Corvette "home" to our "snake ranch" near our base in Little Creek, Va in July of 67.

What made the deal was that his wife-to-be told him to "Get rid of the Vette, and get a nice family car"

And I still have that Corvette:

It was Fall of 1968 and I was 20 years old. My best friend Jim Hert was getting shipped to RVN and I bought his black/white 56 that had a crate 250/327 in it with the driveshaft twisted in half. Laying on cold concrete floor with the scissor jack and a couple concrete blocks I got it back together & put a Hurst shifter in it. Didn't want to take it to the UP of Michigan where I was stationed so I let my younger brother (16) use it until I could get home in the Spring. You guessed it I got orders to RVN but took 30 days leave before going. Enjoyed it for that time and then sold it for $1500 before shipping out. Back home in April 1970 and bought a 62 for $2500 then two years later got married to my wonderful wife and sold the car. 37 years later kids grown and gone and I have my red/red 62. Love every minute of it.

I was 21 in 1968 when I traded in my 63 Impala SS 327/300 with factory tach for a 64 Corvette convertible. White/red interior, 4-speed, factory air conditioning, 327/300, and a 3:08. Drove it from the west coast to east coast and then to Dallas in summer of 1969. Wish it was still mine.

Fall of 1961...24...new '62....influenced by the Route 66 TV series...searched around for a white 340...never drove it before I bought it. Spent the week-end in it. Never forgotten.
