287 B-R versus 287 BR ignition coils

I pulled a 287 BR and incorrect coil bracket to install a correct coil bracket and capacitor. All this time I thought it was a 287 B-R so imagine my surprise. Fortunately I do have an original 287 B-R that I am replacing it with but that raises a question or two. What's the differences between the two and if they are different then what is the 287 BR application? I also noticed the lettering style was different on the tops, the 287 BR being a bit larger than the 287 B-R.
