Which is the most sought after? The first copy of The Restorer or the first copy of Corvette News ? Which is the rarest? Any way to know how many copys of CN were printed the first year as opposed to 270 copy's of The Restorer? Is there an Index to Corvette News like there is for the Restorer. I have a 60 corvette and have a great many Corvette News mags but don't know which issues to look for that would pertain to just my car.

I suspect the Corvette News Vol 1 #1 is more desirable but not necessarily more rare. There is a nice reproduction of the Vol1 #1 on line at about $65.
The real deal however is nice for those who insist on the real thing.
When I bought the George Moore / Eb Rose 54 years ago..along with it I got a complete collection of Corvette News for the first 18 years starting with Vol 1 #1.
Since George bought his 1954 new..he started receiving Corvette News when they started coming out in 1957. He saved every issue and supplement for 18 years.
The Duntov soft Vinyl album that came in about the 61 issue is very valuable.
Other than Vol 1 and Vol 2 the remaining issues are reasonably priced and regularly available.
They make good reading and reference material.

Re: Restorer or Corvette News ?
I agree with Joe. The v1, n1 of Corvette News is more interesting, but not nearly as rare as the Restorer v1, n1. I picked up an original CN on ebay a couple years back at a decent price. But until Noland posted his v1, n1 copy of the Restorer, I had never seen one for sale on ebay.
Noland's v1,n1 jumped up to $325 tonight. I'm not surprised. I assembled a nearly complete set v1,n3 to present for about $200 via ebay and Craigslist. A full set is worth much more than that. v1,n1 and v1,n2 are darn near impossible to find, and worth a small fortune.

Re: Restorer or Corvette News ?
Russ, Don't you agree the chase is most of the fun? Old magazine stores, graigslist, other tips? Hopefully I've made it clear to my kids that these mags are meant to go to some one who will appreciate them and not thrown away when I'm gone. Also Russ on a personal note I very much enjoy getting on your web site and reading the club magazines you've collected. My God the prices for cars and parts. Unfortunely like most young marrieds I was about 5 years behind with the extra money to take advantage.- Top

Re: Restorer or Corvette News ?
Thanks for nice words about my website Steve. I plan to expand my website by the end of the year, so hopefully you will be able to find more things of interest in the not too distant future.
Like you, I greatly enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I get a real charge when I come across something special, even on ebay. I confess that I have become more discriminating in my purchasing however. I now limit my purchases to either something that I will use and consume with my cars or something interesting that I can scan and put on my website.
I know how you feel about old time prices. I joined the hobby waaaaaay to late. But I am making up for lost time. Once you get past the initial investment of a car or two, the annual hobby expense is not too bad.
