    '56 door post adjustments

After paint shop my '56 door post spay outward 1/2 to 3/4 inch. There is a possibility that the door post got swapped for 60 door post during the process, could that be an issue? Any suggestions for adjusting, shims etc.

Boyce, here's some advice Roy Braatz previously posted. Gary....
The longer rubber strips are for the body bottom pan area so it don't move up and down .
Set the body on tighten the cab area bolts (8) metal plate toward the body , rubber to the frame , adjust the doors front area to fit the body gap nice , with the door strikers removed ,start at the front install the metal and rubber shims between the Rad, support and frame but don't tighten the two bolts (lift it up if needed), go to the rear area using a floor jack under the back spare tire area raise the body (while checking the rear door GAP, when you see the GAP that you like to see install the fender rubber cushions plus add the necessary washers to fill that GAP . If the door GAP needs to close a little more go to the front again lift it some more again watching the rear door GAP.

Think of it this way= with the body down 8 bolts and tight and the front door area GAP nice your lifting between the front and rear area to close the door rear area. That's it!! But remember there is a limit as to how much this can be done. To much and that's why many people wonder why the door rear bottom corner area sticks out.

Are you using the short allthread standoffs that fit between the lower door post end and the fiberglass inner door panel. They adjust the lean of the posts inward or outward on the door.

Thanks for the quick replys, Joel I think your reply is the crux of my problem... the chrome door post window guide is my issue. I havn't been in there myself, I had assumed that the professionals that installed the post and window mechanism would have know to adjust it... I will now have to take it all loose and work with the adjustment as you describe. Are shim required under the bottom of the door post? Does anyone know the differences in 56 vs. 60 door post, if any? My windshield and doors do seem to be aligned properly. Again thanks for the replys... there was also an archive discussion on door post adjustments.

Boyce, the ST12 has door adjustment procedures in it. Roy Braatz did a write up on door post differences - might search the archives or ask Roy to post info again. 56-7 door posts have horizontal serrations on the weatherstripping side and later door posts do not. Gary....
