What should I know about this? It's actually too much overspray from engine paint. How do I do this without harming the aluminum? Is there any way to do it with the intake on the engine?

Re: Removing paint from an aluminum intake
Larry,
I think the only way to do a class job will require removal of intake. Using any strippers and lacquer thinner around the car is asking for problems. Plus the issue of extracting the goo mess of dissolved paint from the engine bay. Maybe an old junk shop vacuum........- Top

Re: Removing paint from an aluminum intake
Larry: if the overspray is not excessive, wiping with acetone will take most of it off. Use plastic to protect your paint job.
Now, you're probably going to find that you have paint down in the pores of the aluminum. For that, take some dull aluminum paint, thin it out, and wipe it into the area. Then wipe the excess from the surface. That should do it.
This method also works well for black deposits that get into the pores.- Top
